An Airman Prays. Before going into combat, soldier kneels before the altar at the 96th Bombardment Group Chapel. The window in the background honors the dead of the group. Before going into combat, many airmen say a silent prayer, some call on the minister or rabbi and often chaplains bless both plane and crew before the take off; but this airmen has gone to the group's chapel before taking off on a mission into Germany (bombing). This airman kneels before the altar and memorial window dedicated to the airmen of the 8th Air Force 96th Bombardment Group who have been killed in action. The men have contributed more than $1500 for this chapel. |
