Photographic darkroom facilities in the combat area of the South Pacific would scare off most professional photographers. This the makeshift darkroom of the Pub. Rel. Sec. 1st Marine Air Wing, on the banks of the Lunga River on Guadalcanal. Housed in the sections tent office, this darkroom was improvised with the help of the Navy Seabees from Jap lumber and a weird collection for plumbing and patchwork, but it produced hundreds of pictures during its two months of existence.
