THESE MEAN VICTORY - These planes are shown on Henderson Field, Guadalcanal Island. The plane in the foreground is a Curtiss observation craft used by the Navy. In the background can be seen a Grumman fighter used by the US. The Navy planes are catapulted from battleship cruisers when they are fitted with wheel landing gear as shown in this picture.
