Marines landing after Naval bombardment had to blast Jap snipers out of concealment, Japs in foreground have been rooted out and will not lie in wait to snipe at anymore passing Marines. These units of the 22nd Regiment, with grenades and bayonets, broke up all enemy resisitance within 30 hours. February 23, 1944 - Eniwetok Atoll
