LIFE BEGINS ANEW FOR LIBERATED CHERBOURGHERS - A Coast Guard Combat Photographer, moving from the beaches, came upon this scene of liberated Frenchmen, returning to the ruins of Cherbourg, browsing through a salvage depot to gather up what's left of their personal belongings. Three bottles of wine at left survived the Allied pounding of the French coastal city.
