INVADER NO.1 IS MANNED BY COAST GUARDSMEN - After rolling into the French coast with the first wave of D-Day invaders, this Coast Guard medium landing craft, bearing the proud no. 1 on its stern, dashes back to its mother ship. A Coast Guard assault transport, with some of the first Americans to fall, wounded in the turret on Hitler's Atlantic wall. The wounded were given emergency treatment in the transport's sick bay before returning to Britain for hospitalization.
