Copan
Copan is the southern most of all the major Mayan sites. The city began about 200 AD with the construction of the Great Plaza, Ball court, and Acropolis. (Bahn, 1999) Copan covers about 12 acres in a fertile valley of 12 km by 3 km. (Arguiar, 1978) "Copan has more hieroglyphic inscriptions and other sculpted monuments that any other Maya ruin, or any other site in the New World, for that matter." (Flash, pg. 19)
