Castle Santa Angelo, Rome

 This building was started by the Emperor Hadrian in 135 A.D. as a mausoleum. The building is 210 foot in diameter. It was completed in 139 A.D. by his successor Antonius Pius. Emperors were buried her until 211 A.D. The building was later incorporated into Rome's Aurelian Wall in 271 A.D. as a defensive fortress.
